We have been able to help many in the thoroughbred industry. Please read on.
IAN WUNSCH, OWNER/BREEDER, NEW SOUTH WALES
Brett and Rachael Howard of Randwick Bloodstock Australia / Glenesk Thoroughbreds take an approach to bloodstock management, breeding and sales that aims to minimise risk and maximise returns for the Breeder. They achieve exceptional results. Their hands on approach, attention to detail and personal service are unparalleled. Brett has an innate ability to find a bargain in even a very strong sale. His ability to find the one that has “fallen through the cracks” is on record. Brett’s thorough research and knowledge gives him the ability to assess the chance of a Broodmare producing quality progeny and also the potential of the Broodmare’s family to upgrade the saleability of her progeny.
Whether Brett is considering a Broodmare, Yearling, Weanling, Racehorse or Service Fee purchase for a client, you can be assured that Brett’s approach invariably means that you never pay “over the odds”. Brett and Rachael form a formidable partnership. Their skills, application, attention to detail and ethics ensure excellent results for their clients, while minimising risks and maximising returns in an industry where rewards can be great.
ALAN JACKSON, OWNER/BREEDER, NEW ZEALAND (2007 & 2013)
I have bought two broodmares in Australia, one by private treaty and one at auction. On both occasions I have used Brett Howard from Randwick Bloodstock as agent. Being a new entrant to the breeding industry it was important for me to work through someone I could first of all trust to have my best interests at heart and also to possess the necessary industry skills to ensure my purchases were well researched and of course well bought within my budget. On both counts Brett has excelled. His advice and communication has been first class. He has always been frank with me and has sought to not sell me anything but rather encouraged me to wait to secure the right mare. One year on and I am rapt with the two purchases made through Brett at Randwick Bloodstock. Thanks Brett, I’ll be back in the new year to see you again. (2007)
Hi Brett, just wanted to say thanks for having a big part to play in fulfilling a long held dream I’ve had to breed a stakes winner. KEYARNA BLUE made that happen today winning a 100K stakes race in Adelaide at her fifth start. Actually she has won her only two starts this time in. You bought OH BLUE ANGEL for me and while I had the misfortune to lose her while foaling this filly it was still a big thrill when you have planned the mating and sold the horse. Thanks heaps for your part in it.(2013)
And then again…….
Hi Brett, just thought I would drop you a line and thank you for encouraging me to pursue Darley while we were at the Magic Millions sales a few years back with a mind to mating Cashcade with Domesday. He was full but they made room for her and the resulting colt was sold at Karaka RTR last week. It was a terrific result for us finding a good home with Round Table Racing and will be trained by Gai Waterhouse. He is a lovely horse and found his value at $240k. We had 5 people after him and I’m pleased he has ended up in Aussie. You’re probably aware I went back again to Domesday and have a full sister to race and breed from. I believe she is every bit as good on type. Anyway thanks for the encouragement you gave me at the time. I liked him anyway but you had seen him in the flesh and said he was a lovely stallion and in your opinion at 11k was value and urged me to follow up with Darley. Best Regards, Alan (November 2013)
JARRED HARRIS, OWNER/BREEDER, VICTORIA
Hi Brett, the papers arrived today. Just wanted to say thank you for the professional and pleasant manner in which you handled the sale. I would not hesitate to deal with you in purchasing horses in the future and will happily recommend your services to any prospective buyers.

SCOTT & SKYE DORING, OWNERS, NEWCASTLE
Yesterday’s win by her was a great thrill for me and my family. I bought into her through Rob Crawford, who called I yesterday to thank for steering me into buying a share and he said “don’t thank me, thank Brett.” So I thought I’d send you an email to convey my appreciation and say thanks for advising Rob to buy a share. Even before yesterday’s win it has been a great experience as I got two of my mates involved who each bought a 10% share. We have all raced quite a few greyhounds together, but this is the first racehorse for each of us.As novices to the sport we’re also very fortunate to have Melissa involved, she’s fantastic keeping us up to date and managing things. The whole experience has been really enjoyable. Once again thank you for your advice and I’m sure ASHLEE’S JEWEL won’t be our last purchase through Randwick Bloodstock.
DOUG RAWNSLEY, BLOODSTOCK AGENT, USA & NZ
In my thirty-three years as a bloodstock agent I’ve known hundreds of bloodstock agents, and for the record you are the best, most honest and honourable bloodstock agent whom I’ve known, since the retirement of the great Tom Cooper and John Clark twenty years ago. If I needed an agent/bloodstock manager for myself you’d be my first choice. Your clients are very, very lucky to have you as their agent and advisor.
SUE WOODCOCK, PROPRIETOR, MEREDITH PARK, NSW
Hi Brett, hopefully you have seen the results from the Inglis Classic Yearling Sales? The mare IRISH LIES that I bought from you in 2006 had her O’REILLY colt go through the Classic Sale on Monday. This was the first yearling the farm has offered at sale and the first yearling that I have prepared and put in a sale. We had a great result with Storm Thoroughbreds buying him for $130,000. John O’Shea will be training the colt. This was the equal second highest price for the sale on day two. Thank you for listing the mare, we could not be happier.
GAVIN MURPHY & CATHERINE DONOVAN, OWNER/BREEDERS, NEW YORK, USA
My wife Catherine Donovan and I are expat Aussies who live in New York and have been involved in the thoroughbred breeding industry in the U.S. since 1994. We met Brett and Rachael Howard of Randwick Bloodstock in 1998 when we decided to expand our breeding operation to Australia. We contacted a number of bloodstock agents with an explanation of the types of mares we were looking for and an indicative price range. The next day, we received a detailed response from Randwick Bloodstock. We bought two mares off that original list and more than fifteen since then through Randwick Bloodstock. We value highly the candid advice and perspective we receive from Brett and Rachael. We have always felt that they treat our investments with the same care and consideration that they do their own and have been grateful for their continued involvement in the ongoing management and administration of our broodmare band over the years. We have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with Brett and Rachael over the last decade and would recommend them unreservedly to anyone in the breeding business.
ARTHUR DARIVAS & VERONICA SANCHEZ, DARIVAS THOROUGHBREDS, SANTIAGO, CHILE
My name is Arthur Darivas. My wife Veronica and I operate a horse breeding company called Darivas Thoroughbreds Pty Ltd. We have been active in the industry for seven years and exclusively use the services provided by Randwick Bloodstock. During this time, we have bought the majority of our bloodstock through Brett and Rachael Howard and have always found their advice, support and guidance essential to the operation and success of the business. Veronica and I live overseas and we have entrusted Brett and Rachael to manage the company’s bank account, they pay all bills and bank income associated with our bloodstock affairs. Their service is completely transparent and of the highest integrity. At the same time Brett and Rachael have introduced us to very capable and trusting people in the industry and we exclusively use broodmare farms referred to us by Randwick Bloodstock. Brett and Rachael have always made time available to discuss issues confronting the business and we are constantly re-modelling the portfolio to ensure we remain profitable and stay in touch with industry trends. The most valued aspect in dealing with Brett and Rachael is the friendship we have formed over the years working together to improve business performance. We recommend to all operating in the thoroughbred industry to consider using Randwick Bloodstock Agency.
